Technology explained simply

Broadcast technology. Without the jargon.

We build on the most advanced technology on the market – and here we take the time to explain what is behind it and why your stream benefits. In four chapters, easy to understand and with no prior knowledge required.

Chapter 1 · Setup

One cable. Everything inside.

Classic outside broadcast trucks haul thick video cables, power lines, control and audio connections for every single camera – hours of setup, cable clutter on every floor. Our cameras speak NDI: video, audio, remote control and power all run through one single slim network cable.

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

NDI is a standard that sends video signals over the ordinary network – exactly like data over Wi-Fi. Instead of special cables for every purpose, one cable everyone knows from their internet connection is all it takes. For you that means: faster setup, lower costs, more flexibility when placing your cameras.

Chapter 2 · Internet

No good Wi-Fi on site? No problem. We bring the internet with us.

A stream is only as stable as its connection. That is why we combine multiple internet connections simultaneously into one single, strong line – the technical term is bonding. Behind the scenes, the proven software Speedify does the work.

  • Our own SIM cards & mobile networksWe arrive with our own cards from all major carriers – and pick the best network on site.
  • Wi-Fi & fixed line provided by the organiserWe use any internet that is already there instead of working against it.
  • Pair & Share: spectators' phonesWith a simple app, visitors can donate their mobile internet – scan a QR code, done. Every donated connection makes the stream even more stable.
  • One connection fails? It doesn't show.Bonding spreads the stream across all connections at once. If one drops out, viewers notice: nothing.
IN PLAIN ENGLISH: THE MOTORWAY PRINCIPLE

Picture your stream as a truck. A normal connection is a single-track country road – gridlock whenever things get busy. Bonding turns it into a motorway/highway with several lanes: Wi-Fi, mobile data and donated phone connections all travel in parallel. And if one lane is closed, traffic simply keeps flowing on the others. This used to require expensive specialist hardware costing thousands – today we make it affordable with software.

Why this is a big deal

Bonding has always been strong. Now it's affordable.

Until recently, stable internet at events came in a box: special hardware that providers rent out – for several thousand euros a day, often not even including the connections themselves. We have packed the exact same effect into software. It runs on our standard production gear and is therefore already included in every package from €499.

Classic providers: Hardware bonding

  • Specialist device has to be rented extra
  • Often several thousand euros a day – before the first picture
  • Extra box in the signal path, extra point of failure
  • Hardly worthwhile for small clubs and single games

InMotion Streams: Software bonding

  • Runs on our normal production equipment
  • Included from €499 – no rental fees, no surprises
  • Pair & Share: even spectators' phones can help out
  • Works everywhere you have mobile reception
IN PLAIN ENGLISH

For a TV station, spending thousands of euros a day on stable internet is just business as usual. For a club tournament, that was out of reach – which is why there was usually either no stream at all, or one that kept dropping out. We are closing exactly this gap: the same technological concept, powered by software instead of specialist hardware – making it affordable for tournaments, clubs and smaller events for the very first time.

Chapter 3 · Commentary

Commentators dialling in from anywhere.

Not every commentator stands pitchside. Over a stable remote connection we bring in voices live from their home studio – with minimal delay, in broadcast quality, in German or English.

  • No travel, no hotel costsThe expert comments from home – your budget will thank you.
  • Multiple languages in parallelGerman and English commentary run simultaneously on separate stream channels.
  • Athletes & coaches as guestsBring in exactly the knowledgeable voice that fits your tournament – wherever they are.
IN PLAIN ENGLISH

The commentator watches the live picture on screen in good time and speaks into their microphone. Our technology mixes their voice into the programme without any noticeable delay – for viewers it sounds as if they were sitting right at the pitchside.

Chapter 4 · Image quality

Why 60 fps? Because sport is fast.

Every video is a rapid sequence of individual images. fps = frames per second. The more images, the smoother fast motion appears – and the better the slow motion looks later on.

IN PLAIN ENGLISH

At 30 frames per second, a ball in fast motion “jumps” from frame to frame. At 60 frames, the motion is resolved twice as finely – smooth, just like the eye expects. And for the instant-replay slow motion, we have twice as much material: the SlowMo stays sharp instead of stuttering.

Technology that works for you.

You don't need to know any of this – that is what we specialise in. Tell us about your event and we'll take care of the rest.
